I've found a reason on the first machine. Since I use parameterized
classes, puppet did not work without hiera (complains), although I had
not used it.
Since puppet with hiera complains about a missing
/etc/puppet/hiera.yaml, I've made an empty one. That's the problem.

Since LDAP is a standard service today and 8.04 is claimed to have Long Term
Support,
this bug really and urgently needs to be addressed. Most modern production

do use LDAP.

I just replaced the mainboard of a computer with ubuntu hardy, put in a
brandnew board with an AMD X2 CPU and 4 GByte RAM.
Unfortunately, the standard ubuntu kernel (*-generic) detects only 3 of
the 4 GByte RAM.

Google, Yahoo, Amazon, Ebay, and german dictionaries.

I try to convert MPEG-2 recordings taken from DVB-T and DVB-C to
MPEG-4(avi).
avidemux seems the only availabe tool under ubuntu allowing to crop and modify
the input graphically and to convert. And indeed it seems to be a pretty good
